KARINA PIAZZA

(Dancer and Coreographer)

 

 

Karina, born in Buenos Aires, began as a ballet dancer at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colon

 

Her very successful career began in 1995 when she appeared in the acclaimed show Luis Bravo’s Forever Tango at Theater on Square in San Francisco and subsequently she was part of the original cast that opened on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre where the production run for 14 successful months being nominated for the Tony Awards on the Best Choreography category.

Since then and until 2001 she completed six years of a non-stop tours with the show, dancing all around United States (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Washington, Seattle, Philadelphia, etc.), Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, etc.) as well as several countries in Europe (Italy, Portugal), Asia (Japan and Korea) and South America (Mexico and Argentina at the Colon Theater Opera House in Buenos Aires). 

In 1996 she danced with Forever Tango at  The Spoleto Festival  where she and Forever Tango were named as the sensation of the festival.

With a career that has spanned the past twenty years and  has taken her to the most influential symphonies, festivals and tango companies around the world, she has  starred in the national tour of The Song of Eva , been invited to perform  with the Rhiga´s Symphonic Orchestra in Latvia, at the Vendsyssel Festival, in Denmark , Tango Festivals in Denmark, Italy, Tokyo and among many more.

As a master of all forms of dance Karina has toured Japan as a soloist with the show Latin Dance Carnival.

In between all her international touring she choreographs many shows in Argentina and performs at the prestigious tango houses El Viejo Almacén and Taconeando
